Signs Its Time For Help: a guide to help you decide when to bring in the big dogs

Krysty Kubojiri / August 3, 2026

Recognizing that a loved one needs extra support is one of the most challenging transitions a family can face. Often, the signs aren’t dramatic (a little like me) or sudden; they appear as subtle shifts in daily habits, physical ability, or personality. Many families wait for a crisis—like a fall or a medical emergency before seeking help, I’m here to tell you to do otherwise. Proactive observation can allow your loved one to maintain their dignity and independence for much longer.

Physical Warning Signs

Physical changes are often the most visible indicators that daily life is becoming difficult.

  • Changes in Personal Hygiene: You may notice a decline in grooming, infrequent bathing, or the same clothes being worn repeatedly. (Did mom stop

The Caregiver’s Home Toolkit: My top 17 must-haves PART 2

Alright, as promised, here’s part 2…

  • Adaptive eating items like easy-grip utensils, scoop dishes, and adult bibs paired with a chair caddy - these items can make mealtimes smoother and clean up faster. Placing a chair caddy on the back of your loved one’s chair is a game changer. Not only does it provide storage space for these items, but it makes them easily accessible as well. Krysty’s Tip: Don’t forget to include a small bottle of sanitizer and a travel sized pack of antibacterial wipes in the caddy.
  • Shower chairs, grab bars, and other bathroom safety aids- these items fall into the must have category, because, well duh…but there’s a whole

The Caregiver’s Home Toolkit: My top 17 must-haves PART 1

Providing care for a loved one in the comfort of their own home is a deeply rewarding experience, but it also comes with unique day-to-day challenges. Whether you are navigating changes in incontinence, managing daily hygiene, or simply looking to make their environment just a lil bit smell-goody-er (it’s a word, just ask my clients) having the right tools can make a world of difference. And storing them in just the right places can change your universe.

Small, intentional adjustments to the home environment don’t just increase proficiency—they help preserve dignity and promote independence for the person you’re caring for. They are also your biggest helpers. In this post, I’ve  rounded

Choosing The Right Agency; What To Look For & What To Ask

Krysty Kubojiri / July 12, 2026

Finding the right home care agency is one of the most important decisions you will make for your loved one… AND FOR YOURSELF. You aren’t just hiring help; you are choosing a partner in care. A reputable agency prioritizes safety, communication, dignity, and trust from the very first conversation. So, the first 10-ish minutes are a big part of your decision.

Here is a guide to help you navigate the process and ensure you find the support your family needs and deserves.

What To Look For:

  • Licensing and Accountability -  Ensure the agency is properly licensed in our state.  While requirements vary, a licensed agency is held to specific standards of operation.
  • Comprehensive Protection - A professional agency should be

Self Care Is Mandatory; you can’t take care of anyone if you don’t take of yourself

Krysty Kubojiri / July 11, 2026

⚠️WARNING: this post is a bit bossy and a smidge sassy, but all with love;

Listen up, because I’m only going to say this once, and I’m saying it because I actually care about you: you are not a superhero, well, I mean…you kinda are. But that’s besides the point.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with putting your loved one first. Honestly, I think its beautiful. But let’s get real for a second. You are currently running on fumes, and eventually, the engine is going to just crap out.

When you skip that doctor’s appointment, ignore that persistent ache in your back, or convince yourself that you “don’t have time” for a shower, you aren’t being a hero. You’re just being reckless with the only body God gave ya.

You can’t pour from

When Caring for a Loved One Feels Overwhelming

Krysty Kubojiri / July 10, 2026

If you’re helping to care for an aging parent or a loved one with an illness, it’s totally normal to sometimes feel overwhelmed, or all the time.  The stress of balancing your own life—work, kids, relationships, self care—with the daily needs of someone you love is A LOT to handle. All those emotions, responsibilities, and exhaustion can sneak up on you, even when you feel determined to make it work. You could have all the will in the world, but being burnt out, there’s no way.

It’s important to remember that frustration, sadness, or even anger don’t make you a “bad” caregiver or daughter/son etc. You’re human—and carrying the weight of someone else’s well-being is a big deal….like, a really big

Understanding the Role of Non-Medical In-Home Care

May 12, 2026

When families start exploring care options for their loved ones, it’s common to feel uncertain about what non-medical in-home care actually means. The term itself can sound a bit technical, but we’re here to break it down and help you understand how it works and why it matters.

Non-medical in-home care is all about offering extra support with daily tasks—without any clinical procedures or medical treatments. Instead of medical care, we focus on helping with things like bathing, getting dressed, meal preparation, housekeeping, and keeping up with routines. Our goal is to help clients remain safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible in their own homes.

What sets this type of care apart is the emphasis on personalized support and companionship.
